Focus on the online course on Africa offered by Sciences Po University
France's Sciences Po university has launched an online course on Africa and globalization to introduce the continent and its place in the new international relations.
Offered in the form of a MOOC (Massive open online course), this Sciences Po course comes at a time when Africa is trying to take advantage of globalization.
In its attempt, the African continent faces some challenges, such as the poverty rate and the still high inequalities.
Accessible to the general public, the course consists of 4 modules and addresses the need for a new approach, breaking with classical theories. Also, the course presents global inequalities, types of integration and regional construction, and the actors of the international system. In addition, specific modules will be devoted to understanding the notions of religion, identity, power and the nation-state in the context of globalization.
Beyond classical international relations, the process of globalization mobilizes economic, social and cultural actors, both individual and collective, who act in the global space.
Whereas the world entered the era of globalization, Africa must work to take advantage of this new system by taking into account its most urgent objectives, namely: accelerate growth and development, and eradicate poverty.
